Just as it’s compulsory to register upon arrival, it’s also necessary to deregister when moving out of the Netherlands.
You must deregister within 5 days before your date of departure. This is possible either in writing or in person at the Departement of Public Service of the Hague or at the Town hall if you registered yourself there.
What you need:
In writing
- A copy of a valid form of identification and a letter with your old and new address (if it is known), the date of departure and a signature.
In person
- A valid form of identification and the new address if it is known.
For non-EU internationals:
You will need to give back your residence permit by sending it by post with an official proof of deregistration at:
Immigratie- en Naturalisatiedienst
Bureau documenten
Postbus 7025
8007 HA Zwolle
You can also also hand it back at the Town hall.
For moving within The Netherlands:
Deregistering for moving to another place in The Netherlands is not possible. You only need to register at the town hall of the place you will be moving to.
